The only technology at work here is that I had my cell phone out on recess duty. We decided to take pics of the kids having a blast on the hill.
More Internet Safety
Today we used this site to talk to 4th graders about being safe on the Internet: http://www.media-awareness.ca/english/games/privacy_playground/
Next week we will discuss using instant messages. I found handouts and information on the same site: http://www.media-awareness.ca/english/special_initiatives/games/privacy_playground/upload/privacy_playground_guide.pdf
A perfect example of a website that uses every advertising method that we don’t want to give into:

There is a crossword puzzle and some other mini lessons. I am hoping to use them if only to drive home the major points that I want to stick in their memories!
Disney’s Surfswell Island
had disappeared just like Atlantis! I looked everywhere. I had used it for the past couple of years and knew it to be a good place for kids in 3rd grade or so to learn some basic web safety skills.
I put the name of the site into google and up came the question “What happened to Disneys Surfswell site?” It pointed me to a computer teacher’s forum. I was quite excited to know of another place to share ideas!
Here is the info:

Miniature Earth
I had seen this a couple of years ago and thanks to Larry Ferlazzo, I just came across it again. This is pretty interesting stuff:
