ISTE 2011

I am at ISTE 2011 #ISTE11 in Philadelphia, PA. What a fabulous convention!

The first day was the EDUCON convention. Here is a list of way cool Web 2.0 that we learned about-info here: This link will bring you to the Web 2.0 Smackdown:

I just went to a good teaser on using Alice, the beginning programming language application. I need a lot more practice before I can introduce it to my students! For more information, click here–

isle of tune

This is such a cool site! My kids are loving it. It’s a place that reminds us of how we start in citycreator.com, which we also loved. Anyhow, at the isleoftune.com website, one can create many tunes, for free. If your students happen to take piano lessons, it might be a bit easier, but trust me, they ALL love it, regardless of their musical backgrounds. When you first go to the site, click on View Islands and poke around to see what others have created. I wouldn’t let my students search for titles because once in a while there are inappropriate titles, but I do show them one or two of the ones I think they will recognize. Then, tell them they can press either Create or New and have their own chance!

It is possible to save and continue working later on the tune or to share on some of the well-known social media sites.
